Montlake Cut

The Montlake Cut is a manmade canal in Seattle, connecting Lake Washington on the east and Lake Union and Union Bay on the west. It's part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal. When it opened in 1916, the level of Lake Washington dropped 9 feet.
